The Goma Film Project

The Goma Film Project (GFP) is an independent film outreach program designed to use the medium of film to bring awareness to the conflict in DR Congo, and empower those caught in its midst. GFP's first feature-length project, LUMO, addresses the epidemic of rape and sexual violence in the DRC.

Our primary objective is to lobby for womens rights as the DRC transitions to a permanent government, as well as lend support to Congolese filmmakers.

Advocacy Films

In the fall of 2005, UNICEF commissioned the Goma Film Project to direct a public service short against sexual violence. In A WORLD WITHOUT WOMEN, produced for Congolese television, Junior's wife, a schoolteacher, is raped by an unidentified man. Junior, a radio DJ, rejects her, fearing for his social status, until a nightmare brings a change of heart. The film was directed by Horeb Bulambo Shindano.
