All sports have the potential to cause injuries. But some are more dangerous than others, depending on the sport, its contact with other players, and age-related changes in soft tissue elasticity. Sprains, strains, fractures and concussion are common, especially in older athletes. Even noncontact sports can cause injury, such as chronic back pain, hamstring and quadriceps injuries, or a repetitive strain injury. URL MuayStep2 – www.UFABET.com
The Health Risks of Professional Sports
Using open data and a new technique for deciphering injury incidence trends, we examined temporal trends in time-loss injuries by body part in MLB, NBA, NHL and NFL. We found that overall injury incidence proportions and rates of time-loss injuries were similar across these four major professional sports leagues. However, some body parts had more frequent injury than others, and there are areas for further investigation to understand and improve player safety.
Exercise can change the heart muscle, and some people develop a condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. This makes the heart work harder to pump blood through the arteries and may lead to cardiovascular disease, which can be fatal. Excessive exercise can also lead to heat stroke, when muscles become so damaged that they break down and release toxins into the bloodstream, potentially damaging the kidneys and liver.
Some studies in former contact and collision sport athletes suggest an increased risk of mental health problems and neurological disorders and diseases, but future higher quality case-control and cohort studies with better control for potential confounding factors are needed.
